Desarius.Bitstream
Deterministic fixed-point math stack for Unity DOTS projects that cannot afford platform drift.
Technical Overview
Bitstream is the numeric foundation we wanted close to the rest of the stack: Q31.32 math, Unity.Mathematics-style APIs, fixed-point vectors, matrices, quaternions, deterministic PRNG, ECS transform components, job helpers, and bit-exact serialization.
Core Capabilities
- Q31.32 scalar fixed-point type and vector, matrix, and quaternion types.
- Unity.Mathematics-style fpmath API.
- Deterministic PRNG and geometry helpers.
- ECS deterministic transform components and systems.
- Bit-exact serialization through reader and writer types.
Use Cases
- Deterministic multiplayer simulation.
- Lockstep games where cross-platform numeric consistency must be boring.
- DOTS/ECS projects that need fixed-point transforms and math without a foreign API shape.
- Teams migrating away from float-dependent or awkward fixed-point dependencies.
Integration Model
UPM package, source license, migration support, determinism validation, and optional integration with Desarius.Legion.
Best Fit
Teams that need a deterministic math foundation for Unity simulation code.
What It Is Not
Bitstream is not a physics engine or gameplay simulation engine. It is the numeric foundation other systems build on.
